An exciting opportunity has arisen with our prestigious client for a Head of IT.
Responsible for leading the IT function across the institution, working with a team to provide fit-for-purpose, robust and secure IT services and develop IT solutions that enhance, maintain and deliver impact and client satisfaction.

They count among their Fellowship some of the greatest thinkers of our time and, through their funding and research programmes, have developed a global community of academics at all stages of their careers.
They have undergone significant growth and is now one of the top 200 Charities in terms of annual income (over £40m). They deliver a £27m core programme of research funding, policy and public engagement work. Working with partners to focus on tackling global challenges and, in addition, runs a £3m venue business from their prestigious premises in in Central London.
They have approximately 75 staff. All these areas require sound and robust IT/AV services, and with that comes the need for a driven and effective Head of IT.

About the role
The Head of Department for the IT team is responsible for the management of its personnel and for its overall effectiveness. The main purposes of the IT department are:
*To implement the delivery of fundamental IT services to best support the organisation and its staff; and
*To continuously improve the organisation’s IT service and deliver impact and results.
The IT department is a key support function of the organisation and will look to optimise current IT solutions whilst promoting innovative solutions to operational challenges. The IT department is expected to work collaboratively and cohesively, ensuring that all tasks are undertaken both efficiently and effectively
Who will I report to?
*You will report to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services (DFCS) who is the Director responsible for Finance, HR, Commercial business, IT, and Facilities. With a wide portfolio, the Director is reliant on a responsible and pro-active Head of IT who will take ownership of their area.
Who will I line manage?
*You will line manage an IT Officer, a IT/AV Technician, and a IT/AV Apprentice
*You will liaise with other members of the Finance and Corporate Services team to help deliver Directorate goals
*You will work in an interconnected team that relies on collaboration, flexibility and the ability to work across formal boundaries to deliver results
What other key internal relationships will I have?
*You will work closely with the DFCS to ensure robust and effective delivery of the IT function
*You will be advising on the application and use of IT/AV to provide excellent services working with all teams to overcome organisational challenges with the use of technology
What will be my success measures?
To be developed as part of your Performance Review but may include:
*Developing, executing and leading on IT Strategy that meets corporate ambitions and supports delivery of the organisation’s Strategic Plan
*Maintain a constant review of opportunities for the more effective delivery of IT/AV services
*Developing and implementing clear governance and risk management processes as they relate to IT Services and Systems
*Effective management, development and support of the IT team
·Educated to Degree level or with equivalent relevant experience.
·Relevant industry certifications.
·Significant experience leading teams.
·Extensive experience managing the people, tools, policies and third-party suppliers.
·Proven track record at senior level of leading staff within an IT/AV environment.
·Successful track record of implementation with delivery on time and to budget.
·Ability to/experience in leading change in an IT/AV environment.
·Develop, implement and manage strategies and plans aligned to key business objectives
·Comprehensive awareness of existing and developing technologies and how they can be applied
·Self-motivated, dynamic individual able to challenge and influence others, including senior stakeholders, and develop and maintain collaborative working relations across IT and non-IT departments to achieve best possible results
·High level, proven inter-personal and communication skills essential, including ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team of IT professionals
·PRINCE 2 or equivalent – desired
