Are you an IT Manager or HPC (HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING MANAGER) looking for an exciting new role? Want to take your technical skills to the next level?

We are looking for a fantastic HPC Manager for an opportunity based in London with high-tech super computers. With a diverse range of people and various technologies to work with, this is a role which will never get boring. Organises the team that maintains the operating systems, software, and procedures for the scalable operation of the IT systems. The focus is on the High-Performance Computing Clusters and related infrastructure, with the focus on uninterrupted operations with a minimum of human toil.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Managing global HPC systems
·Participating in the planning and deployment of new machines
·Hiring and overseeing the HPC support and dev-ops team
·Setting the monitoring, automation, alerting, and problem response strategy
·Managing priorities for the team
·Ensuring an appropriate balance between time spent solving one-off problems vs. long-term solutions and automation
·Management reporting
·Day-to-day management of the physical computer room facilities (e.g. power and cooling)
·Operating the LAN / WAN networks
·Procurement and asset management of relevant IT equipment
·Working with the IT Manager to ensure that all IT functions are covered.

ABOUT YOU
·Linux system administration and architecture experience
·Management / leadership experience in a role of significant responsibility
·Demonstrated ability to document and organise complex IT systems
·Experience managing a significant budget, and external vendors
·Excellent communication skills, including written and spoken business and technical English.
·ITIL practitioner
·Experience of performance indicator and management reporting tools
·Line management experience (recruiting, performance appraisals, mentoring, corrective actions, leadership)
·Strong analytical skills
·Strong knowledge of IT, trends, vendors, systems and services
·Exceptional attention to detail
·Good interpersonal skills

The ideal candidate would also have experience with some or all of:
·Large ethernet networks
·The Lustre cluster file system
·High-performance electrical and cooling systems.
