We are recruiting for a talented Technical lead (DevOps Manager), to join a market leading market data provider at the cutting edge of technology.

You will be integrating and monitoring cutting edge financial systems used by global investment banks, hedge funds, brokers, exchanges and Top Ten global technology firms as well as mentoring Network DevOps Engineers in your team.

THE COMPANY
The company are an investment research and management firm head-quartered in Chicago. Their London based office is a Real-Time Data firm, the team delivers financial market data for millions of instruments traded in markets worldwide, representing a full range of asset classes. They supply this data both internally to the company’s products and externally to clients, supporting the need for fast, reliable market information in a variety of formats and time intervals. The environment is fast-paced and lively!

THE ROLE
As a DevOPS Manager, you will work in conjunction with the Market Data Operations Lead to oversee the day-to-day running of the Market Data Operations team. You’ll ensure that large-scale distributed systems are scalable, monitored, automated and performing optimally. You will need to own their production environment – from the initial design phases to ensuring continuous high availability, so you should be comfortable working alongside or directing other engineers to help fix and debug issues with the production environment. Be responsible for pro-actively monitoring all servers (Windows), application software (usually bespoke), databases, feeds and network connections, detecting faults/issues and fixing them.
The team is responsible for Market Data central systems 24 hours a day, which are based in data centres around the globe. leading a team focused on automation, passionate about creating best in class tooling, and exploring new technologies.

Hours of Work: At first you will be required to work 12-hour shift rota until your training is complete. Moving to a follow the sun model after which the working hours will be better managed. Weekend work from time to time as will be future on-call duties

Responsibilities:
·Ensure delivery of IT Operations functions and services are performed to agreed standards.
·Facilitate design/re-design IT Operations services, functions and infrastructure to adapt to changing business needs as and when required.
·Periodic and proactive reviews of IT Operations function and services to ensure they are fit for purpose, relevant and meet the needs of the business
·Direct and contribute as appropriate to the team delivering excellent proactive monitoring of hardware, application software and network connections, detecting any issues and making sure they are fixed or escalated appropriately.
·Direct the team, contributing as appropriate, to ensure provision of excellent customer service by responding to and efficiently resolving client issues and requests, including partnering with data suppliers.
·Direct the team, contributing as appropriate, to ensure they are managing new data downloads, backups, ensuring data accuracy & completeness, and creating and updating documentation.
·Design, deploy and support solutions for problems such as high availability and high throughput
·Focus on automation: this includes partnering with Engineering team to automate deployment and configuration management, quality (including functional and capacity testing), and reaction to problems
·Provide strong leadership to the team and perform the full range of staff management as required
·Constantly evaluate ways to improve the skill set of the team and quality of their output
·Training of new Operations Engineers and continued support and training for more experienced engineers.
·Incident management, tracking issues from discovery to resolution and next steps.
·Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role

Requirements:
·Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline with strong academic credentials.
·Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
·Demonstrable team management skills
·Experience of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, demanding IT environment.
·5+ years knowledge of all Windows operating systems and PC/server hardware. Knowledge of and base admin skills in Linux OS desirable
·Demonstrable experience of automation
·Proficiency in either of the following: Python (3.x), Powershell
·Experience with Enterprise monitoring and CI/CD tools, direct experience of TrueSight, Splunk, Chef, uDeploy/CodeDeploy viewed favourably.
·Knowledge of open source monitoring tools.
·Broad understanding of IP communications and technologies.
·Knowledge of network stacks, protocols, and monitoring tools

ABOUT YOU
