Web Developer (PHP – Drupal)| Central London | Medical Science | Up to £50,000

This is an excellent opportunity for a Web Developer with very good knowledge of PHP and Drupal, who would like to join an organisation with a high impact at the level of community – an organisation designed to support the Medical Science through innovation.

Your role:

You will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of a leading-edge web technology platform. Every team member has a significant role within the team. An open-minded person, able to bring value to the current team would be a great fit!

You will be involved in operational, science-based applications, public websites and other very exciting projects involving Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Gamification.

Main responsibilities:

·Developing web applications and web services (focus on Drupal and Symfony)
·Building solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders
·Ensuring the security of all web applications
·Participating in peer reviewing and testing
·Developing prototypes and experimenting with new technologies
·Developing, testing, releasing and documenting software using agreed best practices
·Sharing knowledge, ideas and best practices across various teams.

Main requirements:

Must have:
·Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualifications/experience
·Strong command of PHP and Drupal – enterprise projects
·Experience of setting up and managing Drupal workflows and releases and knowledge of tools surrounding Drupal: Varnish, Memcached, Apache Solr, Drush
·Strong command of MySQL database
·Good experience of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and the afferent frameworks. Strong knowledge of front-end development would be highly appreciated.
·Evidence of understanding, and experience of good software engineering principles: e.g. OOP, version control, unit testing, documentation and release/deployment processes
·Solid understanding of web-related architectural issues
·Autonomous individual, able to work in multidisciplinary teams
·Very good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
·Passion for technology, interest in permanent learning and self-development.
·Innovative, creative individual, willing to talk and collaborate with scientists.

Nice to have:
·Web APIs and microservice architectures experience
·Previous exposure to other programming languages (e.g. Python, Java) or willingness to learn other programming languages since the company provides training
·Experience in building data visualisation tools
·Previous experience within an Agile environment
